Richard C. Walters, 85, U.S. Navy Veteran

Mr. Walters was born in Lorain on October 2, 1928, the son of the late Llewellyn T and Ruth C (Rice) Walters. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He worked for US Steel, was a Lorain fireman and retired in 1993 as the marketing director for the B. F. Goodrich Company in both Avon and Independence. He enjoyed gardening, working with wood, and riding his tractors. He collected canes and canes. He also collected lighthouses and enjoyed visiting many lighthouses.
He was a member of Christian Temple Disciples of Christ in Lorain. He was a member of F & AM Lodge 786 and was a past Master of the Lodge.
Mr. Walters graduated from Lorain High School in the class of 1946-B and married his high school sweetheart Mary (nee Russo) Walters. They were married for 66 years.
He will be missed by his wife Mary, son Bill (Kathy) Walters of Strongsville, daughter Wendy (Tom) Casada of Valley City, daughter Linda (Len) Marsico of West Bloomfield, MI, son John (Lynne) Walters of Amherst, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sisters Faith Laidlaw of Elyria, Luellen Roberts of Amherst, Susan (Reuben) Cardonick of Beverly Hills, FL, brothers Thomas (Betty) Walters of Amherst and Jeffrey Walters of California.
Friends may call on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Bradley J. Donahue, pastor of Christian Temple, officiating.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery Amherst Township, with full military honors provided by the Disabled American Veterans, Louis Proy Post # 20 of Lorain.
