Kathleen Russo, 89, Devoted Mother & Caregiver

She was born February 2, 1924 in Sagamore, PA and had resided in North Olmsted for the past 13 years moving from Lorain where she had lived most of her life.

Kathleen attended Holy Trinity School in Lorain and graduated from Lorain High School near the top of her class.

She was a member of the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain and attended St. Brendan Catholic Church in North Olmsted.

Kathleen was a devoted mother to her children, a homemaker and caregiver to her husband Alfred as he suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. She was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers fan and enjoyed watching their games with her son Randy. She enjoyed word puzzles, dancing, going out with friends, card parties and hosting Christmas parties at her home.

She is survived by her children Rick and Randy Russo, both of North Olmsted and Sheila Spontik (David) of Lorain, grandchildren Karla Spontik and Kelli Pittak (Derek) and great grandchildren Noah, Macy, Leah, Gianna and Elijah. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred M. Russo in 2002, parents Andrew and Catherine Demko (nee Pachan), brother Steve Demko and sisters Elizabeth Pruchnicki, Mary Suleski, Ann DeSilvester, Irene Donath and Pauline Herring.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at St .Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Dr, Lorain. The Rev. John Retar, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
