John M. Lamb, 78, U.S. Army Veteran
Born in Cleveland, he had resided in Cleveland for many years before moving to North Olmsted and then later to Sheffield Village where he had resided the past 13 years.
A US Army veteran, he served as a Lieutenant in the late 1950’s.
Mr. Lamb was a proud Wildcat, having graduated from St. Ignatius High School; he then went on to receive his Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan.
An Educator by trade, he worked as a math teacher for many local schools, starting at Clearview, then the majority of his career in the Lakewood City School System at Emerson and Horace Mann Middle Schools, then later at St. Edward Catholic High.
Being an avid sports fan, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and coached baseball, basketball and football for many local schools and summer programs. And for all that knew him, he was always smiling and could tell a joke with the best of them. He truly enjoyed his kids, grandchildren and his many friends.
In his later years, he became a part-time artist becoming quite accomplished with water colors and pencil drawing of wildlife and landscapes.
Survivors include in wife of 33 years, Bernice, three sons, John B. (Maggie) of Rocky River, Scott (Jeanette) of Tyler, TX, and Steven (Laina) Lamb of Bay Village, four grandchildren, one brother, Charles (Charlotte) Lamb of Warren, MI, two sisters, Judy Lamb of Burbank, CA, and Janet (Mike) Theriot of Olmsted Falls and his beloved nieces and nephews including Curtis Bouman, Marianela and Gregory Zytkowski.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Paula Lamb.
The family will receive friends 2-5PM Sunday December 29, 2013 at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held 9:15 AM Monday followed by 10 AM Mass at St. Teresa of Avila Church. Burial will be in St. Teresa Cemetery.
