Emiliano Mendiola, 62, Enjoyed Bowling and Fishing

Photo of Emiliano Mendiola Emiliano “Melo” Mendiola, Jr., 62, formerly of Lorain, died at Memorial Hospital, Marysville, Ohio, on December 25, 2013 after a long illness.

Melo was born in Lorain, Ohio on January 12, 1951; he lived in Lorain for over fifty years. He moved with his sister in Palm Bay, Florida for three years before returning to Marysville, Ohio to be closer to his children.

He was employed at Elyria Foundry and Avon Lake Ford Plant. Some of his hobbies included bowling, playing pool, fishing; he loved the Cleveland Browns and enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers.

He is survived by his sons Emilio, Matthew and Jason Mendiola of Marysville, Ohio a daughter Danielle Mendiola Knapp of Richwood, Ohio; brothers Raul Mendiola of Strongsville, Ohio, Enrique Ybarra of Idaho, Magdaleno and Robert Ybarra of Toledo, Ohio; sisters Julie Hernandez of Palm Bay, Margie Valdez and Rebecca Rodriguez of San Antonio, Texas, Anita Ybarra, Carolina Torres, and Rosa Davila all of Toledo, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren also numerous nieces and nephews.

Melo was preceded in death by parents Emiliano and Maria (née Hernandez) Mendiola; sister Maria Aviles and brothers Jesse Mendiola and Freddy Ybarra.

His family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 8 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio. His funeral will be Friday with closing prayers in the funeral home at 8:45 AM, then Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 AM in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Father William A Thaden, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
