Adam V. Wood, Sr., 76, Avid Golfer and Running Enthusiast

Photo of Adam V. Wood, Sr. Adam V. “Butch” Wood, Sr., age 76, of Elyria, passed away on the morning of Saturday December 28, 2013 at EMH Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Glen Robbins, Ohio on November 13, 1937 and was a 1955 graduate of Lorain High School. He had been a resident of Elyria for the past nine years coming from Lorain.

Mr. Wood was a self-made business man and owner of the C-Wood Insurance Agency in Lorain.

He was a parishioner of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 637 in Lorain as well as a social member of Italian-American Veterans Post # 1 also of Lorain.

Butch was an avid golfer and running enthusiast; additional interests included traveling with his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Kathleen “Katie” (nee Conley), by his son Adam V. Wood, Jr. (Staci) residing in Dallas, and by daughters Suzanne Strader (James) of Oberlin, Christine Kowalski (Kenneth) of North Ridgeville, and Stephanie Selloni of Long Island, New York. He also leaves grandchildren John and Dylan Srawley, Michael and Alyssa Kowalski, Gabriella and Alexandria Selloni, Gwendolyn and Isabella Wood, and his brother James Woods (Donna) of Sheffield Lake.

Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his infant son, Anthony, by his parents James and Olga (nee Maceluk) Wood, and by brothers Bernard and Michael Wood.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 9:30 in the funeral chapel; a Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church (2143 Homewood Drive) at 10:00 a.m. Reverend John C. Retar, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
