Eliezer Parrilla, 68, Purple Heart and Bronze Star Recipient

Photo of Eliezer Parrilla Eliezer “Eli” Parrilla 68, of North Olmsted, formerly of Lorain, died at Fairview Hospital, Fairview on January 11, 2014 after a lengthy illness.

Eli was born in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, on October 10, 1945 and moved to Lorain as a child. He was a 1964 graduate of Admiral King High School, Lorain, Ohio and attended Lorain County Community College and later worked at the U.S. Postal Service, Harshaw Chemical, and Sheffield Lake Schools.

He served with the US Army from 1965 to 1967 with the 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam and was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star Recipient. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and doing fun things with his children when they were young.

He is survived by his companion Judy Hatfield of North Olmsted; son Marco A. (Fiancée, Vanessa Rodriguez) Parrilla; daughter Carla E. (Christopher) Parrilla-Tiona of Arizona; grandchildren Kevin A. Haught II, Micah L. Haught, Renee M. Parrilla, Carla I. Parrilla; former spouse Norma Rosario-Carde of Arizona; brothers Bro. Carlos Parrilla of Indiana, Jose Antonio (Muriel) Parrilla of Lorain; sister Maria (Michael) Isabel Parrilla-Nolte of South Carolina and 3 nieces and 2 nephews.

Eliezer was preceded in death by his parents Timoteo Parrilla-Fuentes and Mercedes Parrilla-Quinones, and his brother Juan Parrilla.

A private service was held on January 14, 2013 at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st street, South Lorain. Deacon Luis A. Maldonado of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain officiated.
