Carol M. Freeman, 72, Avid Pet Lover

Born June 12, 1941 in Lorain, she resided in Lorain for over 40 years, before moving to Dayton a year ago to be near her son, Michael. She attended Avon Lake High School and was in the graduating class of 1959.
Carol’s employment career was in mortgage lending, having been employed by The Leader Mortgage Company, General Title Company, and retiring from Ohio Savings Bank, all in Cleveland. She was the proprietor of Cleveland Escrow for several years.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Avon Lake.
Carol was an avid pet lover, lending much needed financial support to the local shelters and the Friendship Animal Protective League. Carol enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, and traveling. She and her husband Fred participated in community service work for the disabled veterans.
Carol is survived by her son, Michael F. Freeman (Aimee) of Kettering, grandson Dillon, sister Christine Tina Pawlowski (Daniel) of Avon Lake, brother Timothy Fidyk of North Olmsted, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Fred Freeman, on November 3, 2005, parents Thomas and Olga (nee Davis) Fidyk, and sister-in-law Gloria Jean Fidyk.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Kelly Brill, pastor of United Church of Christ in Avon Lake, officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in her memory to the Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
