Jeffry M. Queen, 55, Founder and Owner of Q & E Customs

Photo of Jeffry M. Queen Jeffry M. Queen, age 55, formerly of Avon, and a current resident of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday January 19, 2014 while a patient at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

He was born in Lorain on April 10, 1958 and was a 1976 graduate of Lorain High School. Jeff went on to study business and marketing while a student at Lorain County Community College, Baldwin-Wallace College, and Cleveland State University.

For the past two years he had been employed as the Vice President of Sales for Austin, Texas-based McKeown International. He had previously served for twenty-four years as the President of Inland Refractories in Avon. Mr. Queen was a member of the Association of Iron and Steel Technology.

Jeff enjoyed a passion for hot rods and was able to turn that hobby into a vocation as the founder and owner of Q & E Customs. In addition, he also displayed an interest in motorcycles.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-three years Teresa (nee Perry), his daughter Rochele Tomazine (Nick) of Sheffield Lake, his son Jeffry M. Queen, II, of Mount Pleasant, and his grandson Bennett Tomazine. In addition, Jeff leaves sisters Donna Falbo of Amherst, Colleen Parker of Lorain, and “brother” John Chambers residing in Avon,

He was preceded in death by his mother Louellen Laubenthal, by his father Milton Queen, by his step-father Paul Laubenthal, by his sister Bonnie Lou Ortega, by his grandmother Mary Adkins, and by his former business partner and mentor Emmett Chambers.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel. 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Pastor Gary Lauzon officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
