Gloria Esther Marrero, 69, Enjoyed Crafts & Cooking

Photo of Gloria Esther Marrero Gloria Esther "Ma Ma" Marrero (née Cruz), 69, of Lorain died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain.

She was born on August 14, 1944 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, she has lived in Lorain most of her life. Gloria was employed at Green Circle Growers and Ford Motor Company.

Gloria was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. She enjoyed ceramics and all crafts in general. She also loved to cook for everyone, especially Sunday family dinners. Ma Ma was very devoted to her family. She also enjoyed watching the Cleveland sports teams and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

She will be deeply missed by her husband of 54 years, Pedro J. Marrero, children, Arlene Marrero, Delia Marrero, Steve Marrero. Stanley Marrero, John Marrero, Diana Marrero-Pinto, Marisa Marrero, Michael Marrero; twenty-three grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren, her father Juan Varela; brothers, Ray Cruz, James Cruz, sister Luz Celenia Clark.

Gloria was preceded in death by her mother, Edelia Varela, grandson, Matthew Steven Marrero, grandmother, Angela Maldonado, nephew James Bonilla, and biological father Pedro Cruz.

Her family will receive friends on Monday, February 3rd, from 4 to 8 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Friends may also call Tuesday from 9 until time of 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Father John C. Retar, Pastor of Saint Frances Cabrini Parish, Lorain will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
