Irba L. Lopez, 80, Enjoyed Playing the Lottery

Photo of Irba L. Lopez Irba L. Lopez, 80, (nee Rodriguez) of Lorain passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014 at the Mercy-New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following a long illness.

Mrs. Lopez was born in Lares, Puerto Rico on August 8, 1933, the daughter of the late Antonio and Isaura (nee Rodriquez) Borrero. She has lived in the Lorain area since 1952. Mrs. Lopez attended Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain.

She was a homemaker that enjoyed playing the lottery, watching soap operas (Novelas), playing dominoes and spending time with her grandchildren and her puppy "Bandido."

Mrs. Lopez is survived by daughters Luz E. (Luis Morales) Carrero, with whom she made her home, Minerva Lopez-Borrero of Melbourne, FL, Carmen M. (Julio Morales) Perez of Lorain, son Wilfredo Lopez, of Milwaukee, WI; sisters, Josephine Gonzalez of Miami, FL, Blanca I Ortiz, of Chicago, IL, granddaughter and caregiver Migdalia Harris of Lorain. She is also survived by 12 other grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Juan Augustin Lopez in 1998, sons Augustine Lopez Jr, Edwin Lopez Anibal Lopez, William Lopez, sister Audea Borrero Quiles, brothers Miguel Borrero, Mario Borrero, Pedro Borrero and Angel Rodriguez.

Friends may call on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 p..m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Deacon Tony Degracia of Sacred Heart Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
