Helen I. Kosakowski, 92, Known for Her Baked Goods
Helen I. Kosakowski (nee Toth), age 92, a long-time resident of Lorain, passed away Wednesday February 5th at her residence following an extended illness.Helen was an active parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church in Lorain until its closing and a current parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain. She was well known for her baked goods and enjoyed many other hobbies. She shared a favorite pastime of polka music and dancing with her husband.
She is survived by her husband John W. Kosakowski with whom she celebrated 71 years of marriage a week prior to her death. Additional survivors include her daughter Sandra Cook (Kim), son Raymond Kosakowski, grandchildren Shelley Hull (David) and David Kosakowski, great grandchildren Ashlen Baylen, and Cullen, and daughter-in-law Nancy Kosakowski.
Helen was preceded in death by her son Dennis Kosakowski, parents Steve and Sophia Toth, brother Alex Toth, and sister Gabriella Tirpak.
Helen’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers of Mercy New Life Hospice.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3 until 7 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Calvary Cemetery, 555 North Ridge Rd. Those attending are asked to assemble at the main entrance of the cemetery just prior to the time of services. Reverend Craig Hovanec, pastor of the Church of St. Peter will officiate.
