Pauline A. Kanary, 87, Enjoyed Dogs & Gardening

Photo of Pauline A. Kanary Pauline A. Kanary (nee Schuster), 87, of Doylestown, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Summa Barberton Hospital.

Born September 27, 1926 in Lorain, she lived in Lorain from 1926-1954, Amherst, Ohio from 1954 - 1964, Massillon, Ohio from 1964 - 2006, and Doylestown, Ohio from 2006 until her death.

She was a graduate of Lorain High School in the class of 1944 B.

Pauline was employed in the ice cream and soda fountain area of the former
Whalen Drug Store and later at M. O’Neil Department Store.

She was a full-blooded Transylvanian Saxon, which may explain why she did
her best work at night and didn't rise until noon. In addition, she was a
member of the Alliance of Transylvania Saxons. She enjoyed dogs, especially
French poodles, gardening, health foods, herbs, and her loyalty to the
Lawrence Welk Show was legendary.

Mrs. Kanary is survived by her son Dale (Linda) Kanary of Doylestown, daughters Barbara (Keith) Houser of DeSoto, TX and Deborah Goss of Melissa, Texas, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and sister Josephine Klekota of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer R. Kanary on August 24, 2002,
parents Johann and Katherina Schuster, brothers William and John Schuster,
and sister Katherina McLaughlin.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 12:00 Noon in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Mike Prillaman, pastor of Country Chapel in Doylestown, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Nana's House:
10924 Oro Vista Ave. Sunland, CA 91040 to benefit unadoptable street
children.
