Franklin D. Johnson, Sr., 62, Enjoyed Spending Time With Family

Photo of Franklin D. Johnson, Sr. Franklin D. Johnson, Sr, 62, of Brownhelm Township, died Friday February 14, 2014 from injuries sustained in a railroad accident while working at Republic Steel in Lorain.

He was born April 4, 1951 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Frank graduated from Admiral King High School in Lorain. He worked as a bricklayer for US Steel and USS/Kobe Steel. For the last few years he worked as a brakeman for the railroad at Republic Steel and had totaled 45 years with the steel producer.

Frank attended Broadway Assembly Church in Lorain and was a member of United Steelworkers Local #1104. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his grandsons play sports and restoring classic cars.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Debra Johnson (nee Hartman), children Franklin D. (Tracy) Johnson, Jr of Henrietta Township and Angela Johnson-Shull (Brandon) of Fremont, grandsons Franklin D. Johnson III and Nicholas Johnson, both of Henrietta Township, sister Judy Black of Elyria, brother Arthur (Beverly) Johnson of Lorain, sister Roberta (Dave) Treadway of Brownhelm Township and sister-in-law Arlene Johnson of Brownhelm Township. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert & Esther Johnson (nee Bement) and brother Robert Johnson Jr.

The family will receive friends Tuesday 4-8 pm in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Matt Jones, pastor of Broadway Assembly Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Twp.
