John W. Dziak, 86, U.S. Army Veteran

He was born May 2, 1927 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
John served with the US Army from 1945-1947 and was stationed in Panama.
He worked for the Illuminating Company as a welder for 40 years retiring in 1987.
John was a member of the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, the American Slovak Club, First Catholic Slovak Union and VFW Post #496.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Frances Dziak (nee Keplar), children Robert (Eileen) Dziak of Lorain, Barbara (Dennis) Goza of Cheboygan, Michigan, Beverly (William) Allsop of Vermilion, Joan (Mike) Rodriguez of Grafton, John (Kathy) Dziak, Jr of Lorain, James (Diane) Dziak and Michael (Toni) Dziak all of Lorain and Brenda (David) Jones of Tecumseh, Michigan, 24 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, brothers Andrew Butch Dziak (Jean) of Sheffield Village, sisters Katherine Kay Brest (Andrew) of Phoenix, Arizona, Margaret (Richard) Heller of Florida and Agnes Dziak of Boston, Massachusetts and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Susan Dziak (nee Madansky), brothers Joseph, Charles and Paul Dziak and sisters Anna Zadorozny, Susan Lehman, Pauline Kudrin and Mary Mauro.
The family will receive friends Friday 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:15 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr, Amherst. The Rev .Lawrence Martello, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the VFW Post #451 and American Legion #30, both of Lorain, will conduct military honors.
