George Fotopoulos, 83, Enjoyed Being In His Garden

He was born August 15, 1930 in Peloponnese, Greece. He immigrated to Lorain in 1966. George retired from the blast furnace of U. S. Steel Lorain Works in 1980. He worked there for 14 years.
George was a member of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Lorain He was member of the Order of AHEPA and the United Steel Workers Local 1104 Lorain. George liked to be in his garden, walking at the mall, playing pinochle, visiting with his friends and spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by his daughter Samantha (Fernando) Maskarino of Lorain and Peter (Maria-Imee) Fotopoulos of White Plains, Maryland; grandchildren Christina, George, Miko, Adriena and Sylvia.
George was preceded in death by his wife 52 years Asimo Sylvia (née Pappas) Fotopoulos in 2007; his parents Panagiotis and Veloudo (née Mpentevi) Fotopoulos; brothers Foti and Aeliki Fotopoulos and a sister.
His family will receive friends Monday from 4 to 8 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, where Trisagion will be at 7 PM in the funeral home. Friends my all call Tuesday from 10:30 until time of his funeral service at 11 AM in Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Blvd., Lorain, Ohio. Rev. Protopresbyter Father Michael C. Gulgas, Pastor officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
