Joseph F. Pavlich, 73, Proud veteran of the United States Navy

Photo of Joseph F. Pavlich Joseph F. Pavlich, Jr., age 73, of Lorain, passed away at his residence on Tuesday February 25th, 2014 following an extended illness. Joe was born in Lorain and remained a life-long resident. He attended Clearview High School.

Mr. Pavlich was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he fulfilled duty assignments as a communications specialist aboard the USS Essex. Following his discharge from active duty, he continued to serve in the Naval Reserves. He was a member of Mullen-Murray Post # 451 of the VFW.

Joe was employed for more than three decades as a journeyman electrician with I.B.E.W. Local # 129 retiring in 2001; he had also served as a union organizer with the local. Previously, he had worked for the Ford Motor Company.

He was a parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter; in his free time he enjoyed boating, dining out, gardening, and swimming. Additional interests included golfing, socializing, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by sons Bryan Pavlich (Kimbrooke) and Kurt Pavlich (Stasia), and by his daughter Heather Angus (Ralph Pasterak). He also leaves grandchildren Brecklen, Aidan, and Aurora and his brother Phillip of Lorain.

Mr. Pavlich was preceded in death by his father Joseph F. Pavlich, Sr. in 1994, by his mother Ann (nee Sasik) in 1996, and brother Francis in infancy.

Visitation will be Friday February 28th from 3 until 7 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Additional visitation will take place Saturday in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain from 10:30 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Department of the Navy assisted by members of Louis Paul Proy Chapter # 20 of the Disabled American Veterans.
