Peggy Jean Gillmore, 89, Loved Animals

She was born April 19, 1924 in Lorain to Emma and Frank Gillmore, and was later adopted by her aunt and uncle Aura and Charles Wood.
Peggy graduated from Lorain High School in 1941, and was employed for 50 years by the Lorain Journal in the advertising and classified departments.
Peggy had been active in the Workshop Players, a theatrical organization. She studied art at the Cleveland Institute of Art and Cleveland College, and was very talented with media such as clay, wood and paint.
Among other interests she loved animals, especially cats, they kept her company during her retired years.
Peggy was a member of the Christian Temple Disciples of Christ Church, and enjoyed reading spiritual devotions.
Ms. Gillmore was a sixth generation member of the Gillmore family who came from Massachusetts to settle in Lorain in 1810. Peggy loved researching the history of her family and Lorain.
She is survived by two nieces Susan Gillmore Dragovich and Judith (Mitchell) Gillmore Dalton, and a sister in law Johanna Gillmore, along with three great-nieces Meghan, Emily, and Abby and three great-nephews Jason, Justin and Colby.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Robert and Donald Gillmore and a niece Janet Gillmore.
Peggy’s family would like to thank Doris and Bob Wenzel, Virginia Williams , and Renate Moore for their special caregiving.
Friends may call Friday February 28th from 11 AM till time of service at 1 PM in Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. Rev. Dr. Bradley J. Donahue will officiate. Private burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery at a later date.
