Gertrude Milner, 95, Enjoyed Baking and Sewing

Photo of Gertrude Milner Gertrude Milner, 95, (nee Horowitz) of Lorain passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Mercy Allen Hospital following a brief illness.

Mrs. Milner was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 2, 1918. Her Mother passed away in 1918 from the influenza virus and Gertrude was raised in an orphanage, but always maintained a great attitude throughout her 95 years of life.

She was a member of AGUDATH B'Nai Israel Temple in Lorain. She was a lifetime member of Hadassah and a member of the A.B.I. Sisterhood

She worked as a riveter during WW II making airplane wings and then worked in the family store, Sam's Cut Rate in Elyria. Recently, she was the receptionist at her son Arnold's podiatry office in Oberlin; working up to the day before she died.

Mrs Milner enjoyed baking (especially her chocolate chip cookies), sewing, collecting "foot" memorabilia, being an awesome loving Mother and Grandmother.

She is survived by daughter, Frayda (Roger) Kadis, of Springfield, PA, sons Jack (Teri) Milner, of Camarillo, CA, Arnold (Diane) Milner of Wakeman, Michael (Sherry) Milner, of Highland Heights, grandchildren, Max Kadis, Sarah Kadis Borish, Mollie Milner Daugherty, Hali Milner, Lisa Milner Goldberg, Samantha Milner, Samuel Milner, great grandchildren: Grace Borish, Gabby Borish and Jake Daugherty.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam A Milner ion 1976, a son Howard Milner, four brothers, Julie Horowitz, Paul Horowitz, Morris Horowitz, and Ralph Harwin.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the AGUDATH B'Nai Israel, 1715 Meister Road, Lorain, with Mark Jaffee officiating.

Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Sheffield Township.

The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to AGUDATH B'Nai Israel, 1715 Meister Road, Lorain, 44053.
