Frank N. Szabo, 85, U.S. Army Veteran

Photo of Frank N. Szabo Frank N. Szabo, age 85, of Lorain, passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday March 4th from the lingering effects of Alzheimer’s Disease; he was born in Lorain on December 25, 1928 and remained a life-long resident of the city.

A veteran of the Unites States Army, Frank was employed as an Electronic Technician for the General Electric Corporation. He traveled extensively throughout the continental United States serving as a trouble-shooter for G.E. A large portion of his assignments were focused within the steel industry. He also held a security clearance granted by the federal government which enabled him to also diagnose electrical problems associated with nuclear reactors and propulsion systems at government installations including those located at NASA’s Plum Brook Station in Sandusky.

Frank was an avid outdoors-man who enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout the country. He was a member of the National Rifle Association as well as the Pinecrest Hunt Club.

Survivors include his brother John Szabo and sister Elsie Massumi both residing in Arizona. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Szabo was preceded in death by his parents Alex and Rose (nee Majoras) Szabo, by brothers Alex, Jr. and Edward Szabo, and by sisters Rose Szucs, Lucille Riggs, and Magdeline Szabo.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3 until 6 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Peter Toth, Pastor of the Lorain Hungarian Reformed Church officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park where military honors will be conducted by Louis Paul Proy Chapter # 20 of the Disabled American Veterans.
