Frank Anson, 89, U.S. Army Veteran

Photo of Frank Anson Frank Anson, age 89, of Lorain, passed away on Saturday March 8th, 2014 at University Hospital Elyria Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He was born to the late Josef and Mary Anson (nee Madorma) on March 15, 1924 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. Frank had been a resident of Lorain, residing on the East Side for more than sixty years.

Mr. Anson was a World War II Veteran of the United States Armed Services. Enlisted in the U.S. Army, he courageously served in the D-Day and German invasions receiving both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Following his service discharge, he was employed in the manufacturing field. He enjoyed spending generous time with his family, and was an avid fisherman and carpenter. Frank was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain.

He is survived by three children: Deborah (Harold) McDonald of Amherst, Barbara Anson of Lorain, and Frank (Patricia) Anson residing in Wellington. He also leaves a host of loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife Cora B. Anson (nee Peterman) in 1992, and by his son James E. Anson.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Private family funeral services will be held. The Reverend Richard Hudak, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1079, Elyria. Interment in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
