Lois M. Gringle, 92, Loved Her Family Deeply

Photo of Lois M. Gringle Lois M. Gringle, age 92 of Sheffield Lake, died Friday March 14, 2014 at the home of her daughter in Sheffield Lake.

She was born June 3, 1921 in Lorain, and remained a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Gringle was a Lorain High School Graduate in the class of 1939A. When she lost her husband and daughter in a six month period, she went to work to provide for her family, and enrolled in St. Joseph School of Nursing, graduating in 1960.

Mrs. Gringle worked as a Practical Nurse in the maternity ward of St. Joseph Hospital for 23 years retiring in 1984.

She was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.

She loved her family deeply, and enjoyed crocheting, baking bread, traveling, reading and crossword puzzles.

Mrs. Gringle is survived by her son Richard (Albina) Gringle of North Olmsted, and daughters Jeanne (Kenneth) Thompson of Sheffield Lake, and Lois (Charles) McNeely of Lorain, 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren, a brother Fred (Dorothy) Farschman of Elyria, sisters Evelyn Gay of Sturgeon Bay, WI, and Carol Farschman of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur in 1958, a daughter Janet Gringle in 1957 and a son Arthur in 1993, and her parents Fred and Louise Farschman.

Friends may call Sunday from 2 – 4pm and 7 – 9pm at Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday March 17th at 11 am in the Funeral Home. Rev. Philip Kunz will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to St. John’s United Church of Christ, 715 Reid Ave., Lorain, OH 44052.
