Barbara R. Taylor, 78, U.S. Army Veteran

She was born in Lorain on December 8, 1935 and was a graduate of Lorain High School.
Following her graduation, Mrs. Taylor enlisted in the United States Air Force and embarked on a career in military service that spanned more than three decades. She retired in 1992 holding the rank of Master Sergeant. Her most recent MSO had been in the arena of personnel and technical training at Charleston Air Force Base in Charleston, South Carolina. She was a member of both the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Barbara was a talented artist who possessed a special fondness for oil painting. In addition, she was an avid reader who also enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and laughing along with her family and friends. She traveled extensively throughout her military career and continued to enjoy that pastime with her husband following their retirement.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years Richard Taylor, by sons Larry (Barbara) Taylor of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Rory Taylor of Winnie, Texas, Patrick Taylor of Lorain, and Aaron Taylor (Renee) of Elyria. She also leaves six grandchildren, two great grandsons, sisters Aloha Kuzniar (Jerome) of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Bonny Keene (James) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and by brothers John Beachler (Mary) and Ronald Beachler (Charlotte) both of Amherst, Frank Beachler (Carol) of Mission, Texas, and Donald Beachler (Janine) of Lorain.
Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her father John in 1948, by her mother Frances (nee Thomas) in 2007, and by sisters Cheryl Bloomfield and Frances Calvin.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 7 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Reverend Donald Dunson, Pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial with full military honors will take place at the convenience of the family.
Memorials are suggested in her memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
