Margaret K. Coffland, 90, Will be Dearly Missed

She was born in Lorain on July 3, 1923 to the late William and Margaret (Reynolds) Smith and resided here all of her life.

She attended Lorain Schools and graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1941-B. After graduation, she worked at J.C. Penny's in the domestic department in downtown Lorain.

She married Leon Coffland in 1942 and became a full-time wife and in 1944 a full-time mother. Margaret volunteered for 35 years in the Coffee Shop and Pastoral Care at Lorain St. Joseph's Hospital.

Margaret enjoyed sitting in her chair, talking to her friends on the phone, working her word search book, listening to the music programs at Anchor Lodge Assisted Living, where she lived, and watching Wheel of Fortune and Lawrence Welk.

She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Lorain and served as a Sunday School teacher and on many committees.

Margaret is survived by her daughter Carol (Allan) Murphy of Lorain. She dearly loved her grandchildren Thomas (Tracey) Murphy, Susan (George) Thomas, Jr., and great grandchildren Sean Murphy, Brian Murphy, Nicole Thomas, Jessica Thomas. She is also survived by her loving nieces Janet Loterbaugh, Cheryl (Herron) Milks and other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leon in 1985 and her sister Delilah Kohart in 2006.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street Lorain.

Funeral Services will be Friday, April 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Karen Hollingsworth, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
