Esther Gonzalez, 85, Active Member of Non-Profit Organizations

She was born December 21, 1928 in Lorain. Esther was a lifelong resident. She was a member of Mexican Mutual Society and enjoyed attending all the club’s functions and dances. Esther was also a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain and the Virgen de Guadalupe Society. She helped in the kitchen preparing her nationality dishes. Esther also helped at the Lorain International Mexican Mutual Society booth. She loved to take care of her grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by her son David Gonzalez of Lorain; daughter Patricia (Mick) Slack of Punta Gorda, Florida; sister Elvira “Vedo” (Moe) Peña of Lorain; brother Rafael (Lucia) Silva of Lorain; grandchildren Brittney, Elliot and Graham and nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband Angel Gonzalez; parents Juan and Gregoria (née Gaitan) Silva; brothers Salvador Silva and Antonio “Tony” Silva; nephew Salvador Silva, Jr and a niece Denise Medina.

Her family will receive friends Tuesday, May 13 from 4 to 8 PM in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Her funeral will be Wednesday with Closing Prayers in the funeral home at 10 AM. Then Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Saint Frances Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Drive (at Grove Ave. ,Rt. 57), Lorain. Rev. Father John C. Retar, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
