Photo of Christine L.  Highsmith Christine L. Highsmith, 58, (nee Smith) of Lorain passed away at her home, Sunday, May 11, 2014 following a long illness.

Mrs. Highsmith was born in Amherst on April 19, 1956, the daughter of the late Richard C. Smith and Darlene C. (nee Lucas) Miller, who survives. She was a graduate of Brookside High School in the class of 1974, where she was a member of the National Honor Society.

She attended St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lorain. She worked as the office manager at Joe Firment Chevrolet in Avon for 35 years. She loved spending time with her family, reading, gardening and taking vacations.

Mrs. Highsmith is survived by her husband Robert J. Highsmith, daughters Michele M. (Richard) Rucker, Robyn L. (John Tschaekofske) Highsmith all of Elyria, grandchildren Trey Tschaekofske, Jalen Rucker, her mother and step father Darlene and Ralph Miller, sister Valorie K. (Greg) Long of Beavercreek, brother Richard J Smith of Sheffield Lake.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother Mark T. "Tim" Smith.

Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain on Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m.

Funeral Services will be Friday morning, May 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Father Richard Hudak, pastor of St. Anthony Catholic Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery-Lorain.

The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society-Northern Ohio Chapter, 5700 Brecksville Road, Independence, Ohio, 44131-1500.
