Stephen W. Cverna, 72, U.S. Air Force Veteran

Stephen W. Cverna, age 72, of University Heights, passed away on the morning of May 12, 2014 while a patient at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Steve was born in Lorain on June 19, 1941 and was a 1959 graduate of Lorain High School; he had been a resident of University Heights since 1977.

Following his discharge from the United States Air Force, Steve attended The Ohio State University; he had been employed for more than two decades as a computer technician in the radiology department of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation; he retired in 2004.

A former parishioner of Holy Trinity Church in Lorain, and a current parishioner of Gesu Church in University Heights, Steve enjoyed sailing, the opera, and target shooting. He was also a licensed HAM radio operator and an avid reader.

He is survived by his wife thirty-seven years Madeline Hall, PhD, by his daughter Ann Hall, PhD (Geoffrey Nelson) of Columbus, and by his son Roy Hall, M.D. (companion Ann Roth) residing in Cincinnati. Additional survivors include grandchildren Sarah and Zachary Nelson, along with his sister Catherine Osko (Edward) of Lorain.

Mr. Cverna was preceded in death by his parents Steve J. and Anne (nee Burzanko) Cverna, and by his sister Daria A. Cverna.

Graveside services for the family will be conducted privately in Calvary Cemetery.
