Neal C. Mowery, 80, Member of Free & Accepted Masons Charleston Lodge #702

Photo of Neal C. Mowery Neal C. Mowery, 80, of Lorain died on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at his home, unexpectedly.

Mr. Mowery was born in Lorain on May 29, 1933, a son of the late Warren and Rosa (nee Goohs) Mowery. He was a graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1951, and received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Kent State University in 1959.

He was a lifetime member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Lorain. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Mowery started his business life with A. H. Babcock, Co. in 1957 and served as President of the company from 1973 until retirement in 1998.

He is a member of Free & Accepted Masons Charleston Lodge #702, serving as Master and then Past Master in 1965, Lorain Commandry # 65, Lorain Masonic Council # 103, Mystic Chapter # 170, Grand Lodge of Ohio, Lorain County Shrine Club and Al Koran.

Neal was very proud of his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He also enjoyed golf and hunting.

He is survived by daughters, Ann C. Mowery of Avon Lake; Caryl M. (Tyler) Huggins of Galion, grandchildren, Pearson Huggins, Evan Huggins, Lauren Huggins, sister Jane Mowery of Lorain, brothers, Roger (Judy) Mowery of Sidney and James (Karen) Mowery of Vermilion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth A. (nee Ilg) Mowery on March 27, 2013, to whom he was married for 55 years.

There will be no visitation.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery with his pastor, Rev. Phil Kunz, St. John's United Church of Christ, officiating.

The family suggest memorial contributions may be made to Lorain County MetroParks, 12882 Diagonal Road , LaGrange, Ohio 44050 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
