Christy Grumbos, 88, US Army Veteran and dedicated worker in many fields.

He was born November 1, 1925 in Elyria. He moved to Lorain in late 1920s.
Mr. Grumbos owned and operated Christy’s TV Service for 20 years and Spartan Private Patrol for 10 years. He worked for U. S. Steel for a total of 19 years and also B & O Railroad 19 years.
He served in the US Army during World War II during the Occupation of Germany.
Christy was an active member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Lorain He served as a volunteer for church activities and fund raising. He was a chaplain for the Order of AHEPA Lorain-Elyria Chapter 144. He loved and was very proud his Greek Heritage. He enjoyed Greek dancing.
Christy was a former president of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainman Local 1101 Lorain and a member of the United Steel Worker Local 1104, Lorain. He was a director of the P. L. A. V., Lorain. He was also was a member of the P.A. C. C. and the Liedertafel Club both of Lorain. Christy was Captain in the Lorain Police Auxiliary. He was a member of the Central Lorain Business Men and the South Lorain Merchants Association. He served on the DAV Honor Guard. Christy was an avid Browns and Indians fan. As a young boy he once shined the shoes of the Heavy Weight Champion Boxer Jack Dempsey.
He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife 62 years Marcella W. (née Leshinski) Grumbos of Lorain; son David C. Grumbos and William J. Grumbos both of Lorain; daughters Susan L. (Richard) Gerrone of Avon Lake and Christine A. (Al) Andrey of Amherst; grandchildren Stephanie (David) Siefert, David Gerrone and Abby Andrey; great grandchildren Sadie and Sam Siefert and Joshua Andrey and many nieces and nephews.
Christy was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary (née Kuvall) Grumbos; brother Kary Grumbos and a sister Sarah Demos.
His family will receive friends Monday from 4 to 8 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, where Trisagion Service will be at 7 PM in the funeral home Monday evening. His family will also receive friends before his funeral service at 11 AM in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Blvd. Lorain. The Very Reverend Father Michael Gulgas, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain with military honors.
