Michael Bednarik, 67, US Navy Veteran who enjoyed bowling, fishing, and camping.

He was born December 21, 1946 in Cleveland and had resided in the Lorain area for the past 22 years.
Michael graduated from West Tech High School in Cleveland and served with the US Navy as an aircraft mechanic stationed in the Philippine Islands and Hawaii.
He retired from the Freeway Corporation in Independence where he worked as a die setter.
Michael was a life member of AMVETS Post #47 in Lorain and a member of the American Legion Post #30 in Lorain where he served as Sergeant-at-Arms. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping and betting on horseraces.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years Linda Bednarik (nee Mitchell), children Michael G. Bednarik, Jr (Mandie) and Jeremy Bednarik, stepchildren Kimberly Wymer (Kyle), Tammy Owens, Denise Friend (John) and Douglas Owens, Jr, 14 grandchildren, sisters Kathleen Curtis (Joe), Michele Gibbons (Jim) and Georgeanne Watson (Dave) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael P. and Catherine Bednarik (nee Kropinak).
The family will receive friends Tuesday 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. A memorial service with military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Tuesday at 7:30 pm in the funeral chapel. Cremation will follow.
