James White Jr., 79, Translator for President Eisenhower and Horse Lover

Photo of James White Jr. James C. White Jr., age 79, of Lorain, died Sunday June 8, 2014 at Fairview General Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born June 23, 1934 in Lorain, and remained a lifelong area resident.

James graduated from Vermilion High School in 1952, and attended Ohio State University before entering the Army in 1955. He was a member of the Special Services, and served as a translator for President Eisenhower.

James worked as a foreman at Ford Motor Co., retiring in 1989 after 30 years. He also was owner and operator of Rebate 1 in Vermilion for 37 years.

He was a 53 year member of the Ely Masonic Lodge in Vermilion, and belonged to the Amvets Post 22 in Vermilion.

He loved horses, and was a trick rider.

James will truly missed by his wife of 45 years Rose, (nee Messer), a daughter Kelly Keating of Chino, CA, and sons Robert White of Chino, CA, and Mark White of Vermilion, along with 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, a brother David White of Georgia, and sisters Virginia (Cookie) Yepko, and Rocelia (Sis) Smith of Vermilion.

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Rocelia (Mead) White.

Friends may call Friday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm in Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday June 14th at 10 am in the funeral home. Rev. Ronald Schulbert will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.

Military honors will be conducted by the Vermilion Veterans Council.
