Cruz Maria Morell (née Ramos), 86 of Lorain, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in Autumn Aegis Nursing Home, Lorain following a lengthy illness.
She was born August 14, 1927 in Camuy, Puerto Rico. She moved here in 1950. In 1986 she returned home for 12 years and came back to Lorain in 1998.
Cruz worked as a seamstress for Daulton Industries in Lorain. She worked there for 10 years.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, where she was a member of the Cursillo Movement and Sociedad de Damas. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She was a terrific cook!
She will be dearly missed by her sons Tony (Lucia) Morell of Florida, Miguel (Lonnie) and Arvin (Glenda) Morell both of Amherst, Jose Morell of Lorain and Ray (Kathleen) Morell of Sparks, Navada; a daughter Doris (Nelson) Hernandez of Amherst, 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; brothers Francisco Ramos of Lorain, Miguel Ramos of Puerto Rico and Gilfredo Ramos of Florida; sisters Carmen Ramos of Puerto Rico, Olga Ramos and Maria Ramos both of Lorain.
Cruz was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Antonio Morell in 2008; her parents Francisco and Monserrate (née Mercado) Ramos Serrano; brothers Luis Ramos and Angel Ramos.
Her family will receive friends Sunday, June 15, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Friends may also call Monday from 8:30 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Sacred Heart Chapel, 3401 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055. Rev. Father William A. Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
