Phillip Santiago, 83, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Spanish Music Loving Handyman

Photo of Phillip Santiago Phillip E. Santiago, Sr. 83, of Lorain, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 12, 2014 in his home surrounded by his family following a lengthy illness.

Phillip was born January 2, 1931 in Utuado, Puerto Rico. He came to Lorain in the 1950’s. Phillip retired in 1996 as the head custodian at the former Lorain High School. He worked there for 18 years.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel and St. Frances Cabrini Parish both of Lorain. Phillip was a handyman, he enjoyed fixing anything, working in his vegetable garden and Spanish Music. Phillip loved entertaining his grand and great grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 51 years Ana L. (née Rivera) Santiago; son Phillip Santiago, Jr. of Lorain; daughters Santa (Roy) Baynes, Ana Santiago and Mary Lou Ornelas all of Lorain; brothers Hector Feliciano of Vineland, New Jersey and Wilfredo Feliciano of Hartford, Connecticut; sisters Hilda Santiago and Santa Feliciano both of Utuado, Ana Feliciano of Stamford, Rosaura Santiago of Connecticut and Provedencia Lugo of Vineland; 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Ricarda (Née Rivera) Santiago; step father Julio Feliciano; sisters Carmina Santiago, Rosa Santiago, Matilde Feliciano and Isabel Rosario.

His family will receive friends Monday, June 16, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Friends may also call Tuesday from 9:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Chapel, 3401 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055. Rev. Father William A. Thaden, pastor and Rev. Father John C. Retar, Pastor of St. Frances will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
