Gerald Vogel, 72, U.S. Air Force Veteran
Gerald Joseph Vogel, age 72, of Brook Park, passed away Tuesday June 17, 2014 at Southwest General Health Center following a short illness.
He was born in Cleveland where he resided most of his life until moving to Brook Park.
Mr. Vogel served in the US Air Force from 1959-1963. He worked as a tool maker at Chevy Parma Plant for 32 years, retiring in 1996. His hobbies included model trains and making and collecting movies.
Survivors include his son Gerald Joseph (Margaret) Vogel, grandchildren Kevin Joseph (Jaclyn McConnell) and Abbey Margaret Vogel all of North Ridgeville, sisters Joannie (Russ) Raedel, Donna Sashko both of Middleburg Heights, brother Joseph (Carol) Vogel of North Ridgeville, sister-in-law, Janet “Bambi” Vogel of Westlake, nephews, Jim (Annie), Scott, Austin (Rachael), nieces, Heather, Christina, Deanna (Mike), Molly (Pat) and Emma, great nephews Jimmy, Greg, Tyler and great niece, Julia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bertha Vogel, brother James Vogel and brother-in-law Bobby Sashko.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Friday at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road N. Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held 9:30 AM Saturday followed by 10 AM Mass at St. Peter Church 35777 Center Ridge Road, N. Ridgeville. Rev. Robert Franco and Rev. Mr. Robert Walling will con-celebrate. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park.
