Timothy L. Brumback, 56, Loving Husband & Ardent Lover of Music

Photo of Timothy L.  Brumback Timothy L. "The Big Man" Brumback, age 56, of Lorain, went to be with his Lord on Saturday June 28th, 2014 following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Lorain on November 25, 1957 and remained a life-long resident of the city. Tim attended Admiral King High School and graduated in 1976. He was a member of both the varsity football and wrestling teams there and earned letters in both sports. He was also active in the drama program at the school and served as a cast member in a host of the group’s productions. Outside of the school, he was a member of the swim team at the Riviera Swim Club.

Following his graduation, he went on to attend The Ohio State University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He subsequently received his Master’s Degree in Education from Ashland University.

For the past quarter century Tim had been employed by the Lorain Board of Education as a teacher at Washington Avenue Elementary School; he was a long-time member of the Lorain Education Association.

Mr. Brumback enjoyed a diversity of interests. He was an ardent lover of music, and maintained a journal chronicling his attendance at 272 concerts including the Rolling Stones as well as countless other prominent rock performers. He was also an avid reader who enjoyed a special interest in biographies, history, and poetry. He was a gifted wordsmith, himself, and had compiled a collection of personal poems, thoughts, and reflections. In addition, he was a fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians, as well as the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Tim is survived by his wife of twenty-two years Sharon K. (nee Skorvanek), by his son Dennis Hill, Jr. (Stephanie) of Mobile, Alabama, his daughter Amanda Skinner (David) of Akron, his mother Joan Brumback (nee Shuster) of Lorain, grandchildren Alexandria and Aaron, brothers Daniel Brumback (Elizabeth) of Boca Raton, Florida, and Neil Brumback of Lorain, and sisters Sandy Furterer, PhD (Daniel) of New Albany, Ohio and Kathy Bauman (Mike) of Bellbrook, Ohio. He also leaves a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.

Mr. Brumback was preceded in death by his father Melvin in 2005, by his brother Terrence in 1953, and by his beloved friend and pet German Shepherd Mojo.

Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Rd., Elyria Township. Reverend Donald Dunson, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
