Marta Vasquez, 74, Avid Dominoes Player
Marta Vasquez (née Montanez) 74, of Lorain, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014 in Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, following a lengthy illness.
Marta was born March 20, 2014 in Gurabo, Puerto Rico. She came to Lorain in 1956. Marta worked for greenhouses in Lorain County and for Angelica Textile Services in Lorain for many years. She was an avid dominoes player and a fanatic Indians fan.
She will be deeply missed by her husband of 43 years Edwin Vasquez of Lorain; a daughter Marisol (James) Vasquez-Reynolds of Lorain; brother Candido Montanez of Lorain and grandchildren Austin Diaz, Arrianna Cumberledge and Justin Torres.
Marta was preceded in death by her parents Nicholas and Juana (née Cruz) Montanez); daughter Janet Torres; sisters Maria Gracelia Montanez, Amelia Montanez, Inez Martinez and Consuelo Ramos; brothers Pablo Cruz Montanez and Jose Luis Montanez.
Her family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st St., South Lorain. Where her funeral will be Thursday at 10 AM. Mr. Rafael Roman will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
