Virginia Gonos, 83, Beloved Grandmother
Virginia A. Gonos (nee Kucharik), 83, of Lorain died Saturday July 26, 2014 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.
She was born December 20, 1930 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Virginia was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Lorain and the former St. John Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending her grandchildren’s activities. She collected beanie babies and enjoyed casino trips.
She is survived by her children Laurie Zimmerman (Ron) of Lorain, James Gonos of Lorain and John Gonos, Jr of Vermilion, grandchildren Brittny, Amanda, Taylor, Callie, Kelsey & Dawson, great grandson Brayson, great niece Mikaya and brother Raymond Kucharik of Wakeman. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years John J. Gonos, Sr in 2004, parents John and Anna Kucharik (nee Girgle) and brother Edward Kucharik.
The family will receive friends Tuesday 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Ave, Lorain. The Rev. John Retar, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
