John Goins, 74, US Army Veteran
John Haywood Goins Jr., age 74 of Wellington passed away after a 14 month illness Friday August 1, 2014 at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain surrounded by his family.
Born in Wilcoe, WV, he had resided in Wellington the last 14 years after moving from North Ridgeville.
John served in the US Army from 1957-1958.
He was a power service operator for Ford Motor Company in Brook Park where he had worked for over 37 years. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 589.
He enjoyed restoring old vehicles, and at one time had raced motor cycles and stock cars, but his greatest passion was his family.
John was the loving Husband of 50 years to Debra (nee Sharrone), father of Kristi Goins of Olmsted Falls, Kelly (Jamie) Taylor of Elyria Township, and Scott (Julie) Goins of Wellington, He was the proud grandfather of Joey and Alexandra Hama, Dillon Taylor, Kaylie, Peyton and Trace Goins, and brother of Betty (George) Vaselaros of Elbert, WV, Wanda (Harold) Finley of Preston, WV, Ruby Goins of Bluefield, WV and Samuel (Susan) Goins of Goshen, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. John Haywood and Emma Goins, and two brothers, James and Lloyd Goins.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5-8 PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville and Tuesday from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM at Cathedral of Life 5375 Jaycox Road, North Ridgeville. Reverend Michael Payne, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridgeville Cemetery.
