Evalyn Partyka, 98, Enjoyed Traveling
Visitation for Evalyn Emma Partyka (nee Shinsky) who passed away in Bedford, Texas on August 8, 2014 will be on Wednesday October 22nd from 6 until 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday October 23rd at 9:30 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter-3501 Oberlin Avenue.(Those attending are requested to meet at the church.) Reverend Craig Hovanec, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park , Amherst Township where the cremated remains of Evalyn’s husband Ted Partyka, Sr., who passed away in 2009, will be laid to rest simultaneously. Military honors for Mr. Partyka will be conducted by Louis Paul Proy Chapter # 20 of the Disabled American Veterans.
Evalyn was born in Lorain on July 4th, 1916. She was a parishioner of the Church of St. Peter in Lorain as well as St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bedford , Texas . She was also a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.
In her earlier years Mrs. Partyka enjoyed traveling, card playing and visiting with her children, grandchildren and friends. In her spare time she knitted blankets and hats for area preemies and made bibs and lap blankets for seniors.
While living at Eden Estates she enjoyed attending many activities especially the Holiday parties and dances. Her smile and bright blue eyes lit up the room and she always had a kind word for everyone she came in contact with. She lost count of how many people called her Mom.
She is survived by her four daughters Sherrill (William) Spruill (Viera, Florida), Sandi (Chet) Uszynski (North Richland Hills, Texas ), Diane (Rich) Whaley (Bedford, Texas) and Debi Stone (Vermilion); her two sons Ted (Donna) Partyka, Jr. (Lorain) and David (Charlotte) Partyka (Oberlin) and son-in-law, Joe Simo (Lorain); also 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
Evalyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Partyka in 2009, daughter Marlene Simo in 2011, her parents Alexander Shinsky & Emma (Smarsh) Shinsky Mertz and brothers Floyd, Bill, Norb and Alex Shinsky.
The family would like to thank Evalyn’s extended family of caregivers Patty Blackford (Amherst, Ohio) and everyone at the Assisted Living Facility Eden Estates.
