Angeline Jaworski, 91, Admired for her "Green Thumb"

She was born in Lorain on January 15, 1923 and remained a life-long resident of the city.
Angeline was a graduate of Lorain High School and later completed two years of study in library science. For more than a decade she served as the librarian in the parish school at Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church and later at St. Anthony of Padua Parochial School.
Mrs. Jaworski was a long-time parishioner of Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church in Lorain and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society there.
She enjoyed flower gardening and was admired by many for her green thumb. She was an accomplished cook and baker who also enjoyed crocheting, counted cross stitch, and reading with a special fondness for works of fiction. In addition, Angeline was a talented ceramics artisan who taught the craft to area residents out of a school she hosted in her home.
She is survived by her son Ralph Jaworski, Jr. (Mary Ann) residing in Elyria along with daughters Linda Grasso (John Lambiase) of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and Karen Szymusiak (David) of Sunbury, Ohio. Additional survivors include twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandson son. She also leaves her sister Mickey Gallo of Elyria, and brothers Salvatore (Mary Ann) Sofra of Amherst, and Frank Sofra (Ida), Joseph Sofra, and Tom Sofra all residing in California.
Angeline was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Jaworski, Sr. in 2006, by her daughter Jean Leach in 2008, by her parents Vincenzo and Maria (nee Lombardo) Sofra, by her son-in-law Larry Grasso, and by her brother Patrick Sofra.
Mrs. Jaworski’s family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at both U.H. Elyria Medical Center and Mercy New Life Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care which they provided to Angeline during her stays with them.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 until 7 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. The Nativity BVM Altar & Rosary Society will recite the rosary there at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Avenue. Reverend Robert Glepko, pastor of the parish will serve as the celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
