Constance J. Peters, 82, Enjoyed Cleveland Sports

Photo of Constance J. Peters Constance J. " Connie" Peters, 82, (nee Elgar), lovingly referred to as "Granny, " passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 at EMH-Amherst Campus suddenly.

Mrs. Peters was born in Lorain on December 21, 1931, the daughter of the late Homer F. and Minnie (nee McCormick) Elgar. She was a graduate of Lorain High School in the class of 1949. She was a homemaker.

She attended the former Christ United Methodist Church in Lorain and was a member of the Beaver Creek Yacht Club. She enjoyed Cleveland Sports, watching NASCAR races, especially Dale Ernhardt and collected gnomes. She was an active and supportive parent of the Boy Scout program. Her most respected accomplishment was being the mother of two Eagle Scouts.

Mrs. Peters survived by a daughter Carol (Karl) Fillip, of Atlanta, GA, son William (Vonda) Peters of Lorain, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a brother Herbert Elgar of Vermilion.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Doty, her second husband Harry Peters, sons Dale Peters in 2007, Mike Doty in 2009, and a brother Neil Elgar.

Friends may call on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.

Funeral services at the funeral home will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be private.

The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, North Regional Office, 10501 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, Ohio 44106-2204.
