Raul Hernandez, 92, Avid Gardner & Cook

Raul was born on March 3, 1922 in Lares, Puerto Rico. He retired from Standard Pipe in 1989 worked there for 33 years. He was an avid gardener, cook and loved playing dominoes. He was a member of Templo Emmanuel, Lorain.

He is survived by his former wife Maria Hernandez; sons Raul Hernan Hernandez of Lorain, Frankie Hernandez (Megan) of Valrico, Florida; Raul Otero of Carolina, Puerto Rico; daughters Ruth “Cuchie” Hernandez (Fico Torres) of Lorain, Norma Perez of Detroit, Michigan and Irma Flecha of Tampa, Florida; 4 adopted children: Francine, Victor, Joey and Scott Hernandez; sisters, Monin Mendez and Iris Martinez of California; brother, Jose “Cheo” Martinez of Puerto Rico; 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

Raul was preceded in death by his wife Agracelia Hernandez; parents Luis Crespo and Francisca Hernandez; brothers, Rafael and Luis Hernandez; daughter Celida “Sally” Ortiz.

His family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 6 PM in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. His funeral service will be Monday at 10 AM in the funeral home. Rev. Pedro Negron of Templo Emmanuel will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park. Lorain.
