Lois H. White, 88, Accomplished Auto Racer

Lois H. White, (nee Brumback), age 88, of Lorain, passed away Saturday September 20th, 2014 at the Golden Acres Nursing Home in Amherst.

Lois was born in Lorain on February 25, 1926 and remained a life-long resident of the city. She was a graduate of Lorain High School.

Mrs. White was an accomplished auto racer who won several super-modified stock car racing championships in Columbus during the 1950’s. In her free time she enjoyed travel and attending local bingo games.

Lois formerly attended St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain. She was also a member of the Knights of St. John Ladies Auxiliary as well as the Knights of St. John Booster Club.

Survivors include her sons Jerry C. White and Raymond D. White both residing in Lorain along with six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Lois was preceded in death by sons Ora E. White in 2002 and Robert L. White on September 9th of this year, by her parents Lewis Raymond Brumback and Helen E. Brumback (nee Mackin), and by brothers Melvin, Walter, and Harry.

Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 until 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel. Reverend John C. Retar, pastor of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
