Merrie E. Guelker, 69, Former CEO and dedicated Scout leader

Photo of Merrie E.  Guelker Merrie E. “Candi” Guelker (nee Frey), 69, of Wellington Township, died Thursday September 25, 2014 at her home.

She was born March 1, 1945 in Lorain and attended Clearview schools from 1952-1963.
Merrie was the co-founder of Multi Corporation in 1987 where she served as CEO and treasurer as well as Motor Corporation and Milstone Properties of Oberlin.

She was involved in scouting for over 30 years as a Girl Scout, Junior and Senior Brownie leader. She was also Service Unit Chariman and served on the Council of Singing Sands, Girl Scouts of America and as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts.

Merrie enjoyed flower gardening, caring for her pond, playing computer games and traveling but most of all she loved just being Nanny.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years Rodger Guelker, son John (Kimberly) Guelker of South Amherst, daughter Terri (Jerry) Allread of Wellington, grandchildren Cortney and Mathew Guelker, Joshua, Joe, Jessica, Jena and Jackson Allread, great grandchildren Braylin and Tycen Allread, sisters Beverly Wayda of Amherst, Joan Csutoras of Amherst and Carol (Frank) Caris of Elyria and brothers Mark Frey of Wakeman and Gregory (Janine) Frey of Sheffield Township. She was preceded in death by her parents Carl R. Frey Sr and Mildred Frey (nee Hellinger), grandson Jerry Lee Allread and brother Carl R. Frey Jr.

The family will receive friends Monday 2-4, 6-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am. The Rev. Richard Haluska, chaplain of Grace Hospice, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Twp.
