David C. Miller, Sr., 70, Avid Outdoorsman

Photo of David C. Miller, Sr. David C. Miller, Sr., age 70, of Lorain, passed away on the evening of Saturday September 27th, 2014 while a resident of the Autumn Aegis Nursing Home.

Born in Elyria on June 18, 1944, he had been a lifetime resident of Lorain.

Dave attended Admiral King High School; he was employed as a bricklayer with Bricklayers Local # 34 of Lorain since 1969.

Mr. Miller was a social member of the United Polish Club, the Polish-American Citizens Club, Italian –American Veterans Post # 1, and VFW Post # 451. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed the companionship of his dogs and possessed a love for all animals both domestic and wild. An ardent fan of the Cleveland Browns, he also enjoyed watching television.

Dave is survived by his sons David C. Miller, Jr. (Robin) residing in Blacklick, Ohio and Charles Miller (Lisa) residing in Lorain. He also leaves grandchildren Hannah Miller, Seth Miller, Amber Meno, and Tayler Meno, along with sisters Marcia Wnek (Stanley) of Lorain and Stephanie Mawson of Sheffield Lake, and brothers Mark Miller (Crystal) of Vermilion and Paul Miller (Juanita) of Lorain. Additional survivors include sixteen nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his father Carl E. Miller in 2003, by his mother Elizabeth S. (nee Katona) Miller in 2009, and by his grandson Gabriel C. Miller also in 2009.

Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 2:15 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Reverend Craig Hovanec, pastor of the Church of St. Peter, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
