Josip Zagar, 64, Enjoyed Hunting and Fishing
Josip Zagar, of Amherst, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 in New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following an unexpected illness.
He was born February 1, 1950 in Podgric, Croatia and was a resident until he immigrated to Lorain in October 1988. While he lived in Croatia he worked as a Home Builder/Contractor and when Josip moved to Ohio he worked as a Metal Fabricator in Westlake. He finished off his career as a Technician for CSA Group in Independence. Josip was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, Lorain. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, watching wrestling and spending time with family.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 40 years Dusanka Zagar (née Erent), daughter Barbara (Justin) Williamson of Japan, his sons Bernard (Adrijana) Zagar and Ivan (Petra) Zagar both of Lorain; brothers, Marjan Zagar of Croatia and Zeljko Zagar of France, and grandchildren Adriano, Isabella, Nikolas, Logan, Luka and Ethan.
Josip was preceded in death by his parents Zeljko-Cvetko and Andela (née Tomac) Zagar.
His family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 to 9 PM Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st St., South Lorain. His funeral will be Wednesday with closing prayers in the funeral home at 10 AM then Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Drive (Homewood Drive and Grove Avenue, Rt. 57), Lorain. Rev. Father John C. Retar, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
