Cecilia Martinez, 91, Devoted Mother
Cecilia Martinez (nee Martinez), age 91, of Lorain, passed away in the afternoon of Monday October 6, 2014 at the home of her daughter.
Cecilia was born in Mayaquez, Puerto Rico on December 5, 1922 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1963. She previously resided in New York City.
Mrs. Martinez retired from Lorain City Schools. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain.
Cecilia was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed reading and embroidery. Her children were her life.
She is survived by her daughters, Lillian Ramos of Orlando, FL, Dianna Pagan (Ray) of Lorain, son Ramon “Ray” Martinez (Mary Ellen) of St. Augustine, FL, daughters Mildred Silva (Frank) of South Carolina and Milagros Hanson (Steve) of Minnesota, grandchildren Angela, Fred, Michael, Sarah, Daniel, Neil, Ryan Lee, Josh, John David, Frankie, Kelli, Erik, David, 11 great grandchildren, and one brother and one sister, both of New York.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ramon Martinez in 1961, her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Deacon Tony DeGracia, representing Sacred Heart Chapel, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
