Margaret "Peggy" Amend, 64, Caring Grandmother

Photo of Margaret Margaret “Peggy” Amend, (nee Centifanti) age 64, of Lorain, passed away on Tuesday October 14, 2014 following an extended illness.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 19, 1950 and was a graduate of St. Stephen’s High School.

Peggy had worked as a certified nurse’s aid for more than a quarter of a century. She was most recently employed by the Autumn Aegis Nursing Home and had previously served in the same capacity at the Elyria United Methodist Village as well as at Altercare.

A parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township, Mrs. Amend enjoyed being involved in the lives of her grandchildren and found great pleasure in attending their sporting events. In her free time, she was a fan of soap operas.

She is survived by her husband of forty-seven years Danny, by her son Chad Amend (Megan) residing in North Ridgeville, and by daughters Brenda Fumara (Jason) residing in Gahanna, Ohio, Kimberly Lewallen (Frank Formoso) of Elyria and Leah Amend (David Kelly) of Amherst. Additional survivors include grandchildren Ashley, Nicholas, Joshua, Tyler, and Gianna, great granddaughter Olivia, brothers Jim Centifanti (Janice) and Ben Centifanti (Heather) both residing in Sheffield Lake, as well as sisters Elaine Roach of Tampa, Florida and Mary Ann O’Donnell of Cleveland.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Ben and Margaret (nee Wagner) Centifanti.

Visitation will be Friday October 17th from 4 until 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday October 18th beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria Township Reverend Donald Dunson, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery in Brookpark, Ohio.
