Edith C. Taylor-Vanhorn, 85, Enjoyed Reading & Sewing

Photo of Edith C. Taylor-Vanhorn Edith C. Taylor-Vanhorn, 85, (nee Martin) passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at the Mercy-New Life Hospice Center at St. Joseph in Lorain following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Taylor-Vanhorn was born in Saltville, VA on November 27, 1928, the daughter of the late William L. and Vivian (nee Rose) Martin. She was a graduate of Saltville High School in Saltville, VA and a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Lorain.

She retired as nurses assistant from the former Ohio Extended Care Nursing Facility in Lorain following 12 years of service. She also worked at American Crucible, Clearsilk Ladies Store and The Morning Journal.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, attending her church and listening to Bible tapes.

Mrs. Taylor-Vanhorn is survived by her son Martin D. (Joyce) Taylor, of Lorain, 2 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters and a sister Evelyn Venable of Meadowview, VA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John O. Taylor on May 4, 1982, sons Randolph W Taylor on Aug. 10, 2007 and Kenneth D Taylor on Oct. 11, 2009, sisters, Mary Kestner, Arlene Brooks, Dovie Hogston, Elizabeth Price and a brother Clint Martin.

Friends may call on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124W. 5th Street, Lorain.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Jay Roller officiating.

Burial will be in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Township, OH.

The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Baptist Church, 719 Root Road, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
