Joyce M. Ralph, 57, Beloved Mother & Grandmother

Photo of Joyce M. Ralph Joyce M. Ralph (nee Lachowyn), age 57, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Thursday October 23, 2014 in the emergency room of Mercy Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Lorain on April 9, 1957 and remained a life-long resident of the city; Joyce was a 1975 graduate of Lorain High School. Following graduation, she attended Ashland University.

Mrs. Ralph was a self-employed housekeeper; she had previously worked as a production assistant at Ford Motor Company’s Lorain Assembly Plant and later as a driver for First Student Transportation.

She was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain and was also a member of the Lorain Saxon Club. In her free time she enjoyed league bowling as well as casino junkets and playing the sweepstakes. Her favorite pastime, however, was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her husband of thirty-one years Thomas Ralph, by her sons Wade Cox (Andrea) of Elyria and Jonathan Ralph of Lorain, by her daughter Julia Henderson of Lorain, and by her grandchildren Wade Cox, Tyler Henderson, Logan Ralph and Blake Henderson. Additional survivors include her father John Lachowyn (Roz Zawicki) of North Olmsted, her mother Phyllis “Pepsi” Lachowyn of Naples, Florida, sisters Janice Christopher of Naples, Laureen Suspenski of Amherst, Lynnette (Wayne) Young of Grass Valley, California, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Ed Cox.

Visitation will be Sunday October 26th from 4 until 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 East Erie Avenue at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Richard Hudak presiding. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
