Elizabeth Rosso, 87, Beloved Mother & Grandmother

Photo of Elizabeth  Rosso Elizabeth “Betty” Rosso (nee Branham), 87, of Avon Lake, died Thursday October 30, 2014at The Gardens of Avon Oaks in Avon after a courageous fight with ovarian cancer.

Betty was born April 22, 1927 in Floyd County, Kentucky. She moved to Lorain in the mid 1940’s, then moved to Sheffield Lake in 1955 and then to Avon Lake in 2008.

Betty worked for 26 years at various Lawsons convenience stores throughout Lorain County retiring as a store manager and then worked at Kroger grocery store in Sheffield Lake. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Sheffield Lake.

Betty’s family was the most important part of her life. She was an avid sports fan who attended all of her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sports activities. She also enjoyed trips to casinos and bowling.

She is survived by her sons: Robert Rosso (Darlene) of Sheffield Lake, Ronald Rosso (Linda) of Sheffield Village, Richard Rosso (Caren) of Sheffield Lake and Russell Rosso of Lorain, grandchildren Laura Grayshaw (Douglas), Neil “Beau” Rosse (Anne), Corey Rosso (fiancé Brittany Lopez), Michael Rosso (Kristi), Adam Rosso (Jennifer) and Daniel Rosso; great grandchildren Avery, Addison, Megan, Kaylee, Myla, Will, Jacob, Deacon and Eli. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Antonio “Tony” Rosso in 2004, her grandson Robert Rosso in 2001, parents Oliver and Mary Frances “Cricket” Branham (nee Sword), sisters Delphie Carroll, Lexie Akers, Draxie England, Ollie King, Ethel Falbo and Polly Branham, twin brother Freeman Branham and brothers Shadrick Hall, Jerry Branham and Clyde Branham.

The family will receive friends Monday 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 am. The Rev. Stephen Shields, pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Sheffield Lake, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery in Avon. Memorial contributions can be made to the donor’s choice.
